A record 167,840 people accessed specialist mental health and addiction services in 2015–16. In late February the Ministry released the Mental Health and Addiction Workforce Plan 2017–2021 that sets four priority areas to meeting that growing need, including having a workforce that is the “right size and skill mix”.
