More than 5,000 ‘Shout Out for Health’ letters, including heartfelt comments from nurses, are to be displayed outside Te Papa at lunchtime today.
The last ‘Shout Out’ for better funding, and for voters to make health their top priority, is to be held as New Zealand Nurse Organisation members from across the country gather for NZNO’s annual conference, just days out from the General Election.
The organisation said that nurse, midwife, caregiver and kaiāwhina members from across the country have told NZNO that in almost every health service from public hospitals to family doctors, that health underfunding was affecting the quality and safety of patient services.
The signed letters collected from all over New Zealand will be boxed up as a presentation for New Zealand’s next Prime Minister and delivered shortly after the election as a “reminder that better health funding is priority for their first 100 days in office”.
