The Government has set two new health-focused Better Public Services targets aimed at improving antenatal care and avoiding child hospitalisations. The main focus of the new ‘Healthy mums and babies’ and ‘Keeping kids healthy’ targets are 90 per cent of pregnant woman across all population groups are registered with a lead maternity carer in the first trimester; and a 25 per cent reduction in hospital admission rates by 2021 for children in avoidable conditions like respiratory, skin and dental conditions, also head injuries.
