Two emergency nurses took out top awards amongst the nursing and midwifery award ceremonies held in district health boards across the country in recent months. Taupo emergency department nurse Vicki Townley won Lakes DHB Registered Nurse of the Year Award and Waikato emergency nurse Maria Baxendine won Waikato DHB’s Nurse of the Year Award. Retired ostomy clinical nurse specialist Karen Armstrong was honoured with a Lifetime Services to Nursing award at the Tairawhiti DHB awards. Elaine Sheirtcliff won Auckland DHB’s Chief Nursing Officer’s Award, one of 26 awards presented.
