Better coordinated services, improved quality and an increased emphasis on primary palliative care are amongst the five priority areas of the Adult Palliative Care Action Plan drawn up following the Review of Adult Palliative Care Services.
The review identified that currently palliative care practices are variable across the country and there is not equal access to high-quality and responsive care when and where people need it. The plan is available at www.health.govt.nz/publication/palliative-care-action-plan
